Reality television is a genre of television programming in which celebrities are filmed living their everyday lives. These celebrities can be people that were born in wealthy families or just ordinary people that have become celebrities because of television. The “reality” of these shoes is that the cast are perceived as role models to a variety of people watching them. These people are presented with no morals, ethics, or education. These shows do not present a good way of living but they are addictive and more viewers attempt to obtain these lifestyles everyday.

“The Smush Room” is presented on MTV’s Jersey Shore. This is a show about eight young adults brought together to live under one roof . Sex plays a huge role in this show. The cast have even nicknamed the act of sex as “smushing”. The Smush room is a room solely dedicated for the cast to smush in. Every person in the cast will bring someone home from the bar and have sex with them. It is almost a priority for the cast to bring someone home to do so.

On Jersey Shore the cast members are highly intoxicated during most of the show. Ronnie has been arrested for aggravated assault when intoxicated. Snookie was arrested for disorderly conduct after day drinking until she could hardly walk. Deena was arrested for standing in the middle of the street and slapping cars as they were passing by while being intoxicated. Jonathan ‘The Unit’ Manfre, has been charged with felony drug possession after being arrested at the MTV party house. And when they are not getting arrested the cast members are living their “G.T.L” lifestyle (Gym, Tanning, Laundry).

Another cast member on Jersey Shore is 30 year old Mike Sorrentino. He has actually openly spoken about his addiction to prescription pills, as well as checking into Rehab after the last season.
