Is China becoming a Dangerous Superpower?
As one of the oldest and most successful countries and civilizations in the world it is amazing how China has developed over the course of its history. Even though the country is one of the largest in size and first largest in population it has been behind the time in technology and industrialization. Some would say that because of its size and influence China is a superpower country. Compared to other superpowers like the United States and European Union, China is nowhere near the level as these two but somehow is slowly catching up to them. With all the communism, nuclear weapons, and reported allegations of human rights troubles we see flaws with China. All of this leads to the question “Is China becoming a Dangerous Superpower?” Dean Cheng, a research fellow for the Chinese political and Security affairs at Heritage Foundation says yes. He argues that if China learns how to harness all of its worth they could be dangerous and deadly. Hu Jintao, the president of China and Communist Party chairman has a completely different point of view. He is utterly convinced that China is turning a new leaf as a country and benefits the world with how it is changing. There are several times throughout its history when China dominated as the most powerful empire in the world. There was a long period of struggle for the country to gain back its former glory and they did so after establishing a communist China. Much has changed for the country though allowing it to flourish in many ways that it did not before.

Certain bits of China’s ideals come from the thought of comprehensive national power. People like to think that a country is built on its relative power, which is not true for many of them. Dean Cheng points out that this national power and becoming a threat are not one in the same. Other countries can not assume just because China is doing well now...
